The Ibanez AZ26P1 represents the philosophy behind the AZ lineup: combining classic design with modern engineering. Every element of this guitar has been carefully crafted to provide maximum comfort, tonal flexibility, and professional performance.
The body is constructed from American Basswood, a tonewood known for its natural and balanced tonal response. It produces a smooth, even sound that faithfully reproduces the nuances of a player’s technique and works beautifully with a wide variety of amplifiers and effects.
The neck is made from Roasted Maple with an Oval C profile. The roasting process enhances the wood’s stability, durability, and resistance to humidity and temperature changes. This results in a neck that feels incredibly comfortable and remains stable even under demanding performance conditions.
The Ebony fretboard adds a premium feel and tonal clarity. Ebony is prized for its tight low end, focused midrange, and strong high-frequency attack. It also provides a fast response and rich sustain.
The guitar features 22 jumbo stainless steel frets, which are highly resistant to wear and corrosion. Their size allows smooth bending, fast response, and excellent articulation for both chord work and lead playing.
For electronics, the guitar is equipped with Seymour Duncan Hyperion™ pickups in an S-S-H configuration. These pickups use Alnico-5 magnets and deliver moderate output with exceptional clarity. They maintain note definition even under distortion and provide a clear pick attack. The overall tonal balance is carefully adjusted from bass to treble, making the guitar compatible with a wide range of pedals and effects.
The dyna-MIX9 switching system with Alter Switch provides nine different tonal variations. With the flick of a mini switch, players can quickly move between humbucker and single-coil modes. One setting even simulates a humbucker tone using a combination of the two single-coil pickups.
The Gotoh® T1502 tremolo bridge features steel saddles and a die-cast zinc tremolo block, delivering quick response and enhanced articulation. Its 10.5 mm string spacing allows comfortable picking and precise control.
Tuning stability is ensured by Gotoh® MG-T locking machine heads, which hold the strings securely and significantly reduce string-changing time.
The guitar also includes a Graph Tech® nut, improving tuning stability and string movement.
Comfort is a key part of the AZ design. The ergonomic rear body contour and large forearm contour allow the guitar to fit naturally against the player’s body. The deep waist and carefully designed curves make the instrument comfortable whether playing seated or standing.
The Super All Access Neck Joint provides effortless access to the higher frets, making fast solos and complex lead playing much easier.
Another professional feature is the luminescent side dot inlays, which glow in the dark and make it easy to see fret positions on dimly lit stages.
