It was a harsh wake-up call that prompted him to pay closer attention to his vault inventory and cease selling off his gear.

In a bizarre twist of fate, it was only a few years later that Joe Perry crossed paths with his long-lost instrument in a fleeting, dramatic encounter aboard a high-speed bullet train in Japan.

As the rock star remembers it, the train was just beginning to pull away from the station platform when a passionate crowd of 30 to 40 fans began running alongside their carriage. Through the window of the moving train, Joe suddenly spotted a young fan running desperately while holding up that exact red guitar, hoping to catch the musician's eye. The train was already in motion, gradually gathering speed, and the kid was chasing it down while clutching the instrument in one hand and a Magic Marker in the other. The guitarist admits that his mind immediately began racing, thinking that he desperately needed to get the fan's contact information to facilitate a buy-back or negotiate a premium gear trade, given the deep sentimental weight the instrument held.

Unfortunately, the tour schedule dictated that they instantly sprint to the next destination city, leaving the rock legend with no immediate way to communicate with the mysterious Japanese collector. Looking back, Joe Perry notes that he probably could have attempted to track the individual down through the official Aerosmith fan club networks, but in the chaos of the tour, the trail ultimately went cold.

Yet, the fire to reclaim this historic piece of his past still burns bright. The guitar virtuoso remains incredibly vocal about his desire to get the instrument back in his hands. He has made a public appeal, stating that he is fully prepared to buy it back outright or offer a highly lucrative trade involving other premium guitars from his legendary arsenal to ensure its safe return.
