Marshall Goes to Infinity: The Loudest Amp Ever Made Becomes Reality with the Ultra-Rare Spinal Tap JVM410H
Nov. 23, 2025, 9 a.m.
Marshall has done the unthinkable: the brand has officially launched an extremely limited run of Spinal Tap-inspired JVM410H “Infinity” amps — yes, the very same models featured in Spinal Tap II: The End Continues.
And they really do go to Infinity… at least on the dial.
Only 20 units will ever be produced, all for the U.S. market, making this one of the rarest Marshall releases in history.

From “These go to 11” to “These go to Infinity”
The original film gave us one of the most iconic jokes in rock history: Nigel Tufnel proudly explaining that his amps “go to 11.”
The new sequel takes the gag one giant step further — introducing amps with a Master Volume that goes straight to ∞.
Fans first spotted the Infinity knob in the movie’s teaser trailer, and it immediately sparked speculation about a real release.
As Christopher Guest (Nigel Tufnel) later revealed, he personally asked Marshall to build him an amp that would “top 11”— and thus, the Infinity amp project began.
Inside the creation of the Infinity Amp
Marshall had to build all amps for the film — functional and prop versions alike — in Milton Keynes and ship them to the U.S.
According to Marshall’s Artist Relations manager Hugh Gilmartin, the Infinity concept actually dates back several years: the company had once built a similar experimental amp for the band.
Guest played a major role in the design, choosing the JVM410H as the base model and offering suggestions to make it more fitting for Spinal Tap’s absurd rock aesthetic.
Key Spinal Tap touches include:
- Master Volume knob that goes to Infinity (∞)
- Every other knob goes to 11 — a tribute to the original movie
- Two renamed channels: St. Hubbins and Tufnel
- Bass control renamed Smalls, after bassist Derek Smalls
Why only 20 amps?
This run is intended as a collector’s item rather than a commercial product.
Of the 20 units, 11 (of course) will be sold on Sweetwater’s Gear Exchange, with all proceeds going to charities selected by the Spinal Tap members.
A cultural moment turned into a real amplifier
As Marshall notes, the line “People love our amps because they’re loud” has practically become a company slogan — all thanks to that improvised moment in the original movie.
Now, four decades later, Marshall and Spinal Tap have reunited to turn rock’s most enduring joke into a very real, very loud piece of
history.
