Flipjack: The Guitar Cable That Instantly Switches from Straight to Angled and Could Change Live Performances Forever

Innovative ideas in the world of guitar accessories don’t appear very often, but Adam Hall Cables may have just introduced one of the smartest solutions gigging musicians have seen in years. The company’s brand-new Flipjack cable can instantly transform from a straight connector into an angled jack — and back again — making mid-show guitar changes dramatically easier.

Every guitarist knows the struggle: different guitars naturally prefer different cable types. Instruments inspired by the Stratocaster design typically work best with straight plugs, while guitars in the Les Paul style are far more comfortable with angled connectors due to the location of their output jacks.
For musicians performing live with multiple guitars throughout a set — whether for alternate tunings, tonal variety, or visual impact — constantly dealing with different cables can become surprisingly frustrating.
That’s exactly the problem Flipjack aims to solve.
As the name suggests, the cable features a clever hinged connector that allows the plug to quickly switch between straight and angled configurations in seconds. It’s an incredibly simple concept, yet one that immediately makes musicians wonder why nobody created it sooner.
According to Adam Hall, the idea behind Flipjack focuses entirely on real-world practicality:
“Instead of changing cables every time you switch instruments, the plug itself adapts to the guitar. This saves time, reduces stress during live performances, minimizes strain on both the cable and the instrument’s input jack, and ensures a smoother stage experience overall.”
The adjustable TS connector was engineered and developed in Germany and is fully patented. The cable itself uses a durable PVC outer jacket along with gold-plated contacts for improved signal transfer and reliability.
Signal quality was clearly a priority during development. Each cable includes an oversized 0.50 mm² (AWG 20) inner conductor designed for maximum conductivity, while a tinned copper braided shield helps reduce unwanted interference and noise.
The Flipjack is available in multiple lengths:
- 1.5m
- 3m
- 4.5m
- 6m
- 9m
Oliver Bick, Team Lead Product Management at Adam Hall, says the idea came directly from years of live performance experience:
“As an active touring guitarist myself, Flipjack is exactly the kind of product I’ve always needed — but until now, it simply didn’t exist. Switching between a Strat and a Les Paul on stage was constantly frustrating. I’ve even damaged guitar inputs trying to force a straight connector into situations where an angled plug made more sense. Flipjack fixes that problem with one simple, reliable movement.”
Interestingly, guitar cables have recently become an increasingly active area for innovation. Manufacturers are now experimenting with new technologies and smarter designs more than ever before. Last year, Ibanez and JTC even claimed their collaborative cable project represented “the next step in cable technology.”
Now, however, Adam Hall may have delivered one of the most genuinely practical ideas guitarists have seen in a long time.
