While ESP first got its start in 1975 as a modest repair shop in Tokyo, it was during the mid-1980s that the brand's electric guitars and basses truly captured the attention of musicians across the globe. The LTD ’87 Series serves as a faithful recreation of this classic line of instruments straight from ESP’s landmark 1987 catalog.
Based on the original, iconic ESP Mirage body shape, the LTD Mirage Deluxe '87 is a bolt-on shred machine crafted with a solid alder body and a ultra-fast 3-piece maple neck featuring an Extra Thin U contour. The macassar ebony fingerboard boasts a 350mm radius and holds 22 Extra Jumbo frets, engineered for effortless leads, fast runs, and extreme bending.
For flawless pitch stability and smooth dive-bombs, the instrument comes equipped with an original-spec Floyd Rose 1000 double-locking tremolo system matched with a 43mm locking nut.
Tonal horsepower is supplied by a versatile Seymour Duncan pickup configuration. In the bridge position, the high-output passive Seymour Duncan TB-6 Duncan Distortion humbucker (featuring original-style bobbins) uses a massive ceramic magnet and hot coil windings to deliver razor-sharp, punchy rock and metal tones packed with rich upper-midrange harmonics. In the neck position, the Seymour Duncan Hot Rails delivers full-sized humbucker warmth, fatness, and fluid sustain in a single-coil footprint. A push-pull tone control adds coil-splitting capabilities, instantly unlocking crisp single-coil textures.
