The Duesenberg Starplayer Special is a rock guitar, through-and-through. Like most Duesenbergs, this German-designed instrument mixes vintage style with modern functionality, and can easily become your favourite workhorse for both live and studio use. Featuring a powerful H/H pickup configuration, you can attain punchy tones from this stylish, retro-esque guitar.
Classic Construction
The Starplayer Special is one of just a few solid-body guitars in Duesenberg's catalogue. This means that you can achieve thick tones from the its Alder body; a material that is popular projecting a strong mid-range character.
The body is paired with a 2-piece bolt-on Maple neck, with its profile carved to a classic 'D' shape. The Maple adds some bright top-end snap that gives notes a clearer and more immediate response, while the neck profile will suit both contemporary and traditional players alike. Finishing off the wood choices, you have an Indian Rosewood fingerboard that feels super-silky under the fingers.
High-Quality Hardware
Duesenberg guitars feature the brand's very own high-quality hardware, machined to handle even the most demanding of playing scenarios. The Starplayer Special comes with their easy-to-adjust 'Steel Saddle' bridge, paired with a tasteful Aluminium tailpiece that really enhances sustain.
The Z-Tuners are also very elegant; keeping your tuning rock solid while also easing the string-changing process. No more sharp string ends poking out!
Glorious Duesenberg Pickups
The Duesenberg Starplayer Special is one of the most powerful-sounding guitars in the range, thanks to its dual-humbucker configuration. The 'GrandVintage' neck pickup emits a focused PAF-style tone, with a medium output that makes it suitable for creamy lead tones or even clean jazz chord sequences.
The 'CrunchBucker' is a different affair, with a higher output that can cope with anything from mild overdrive to sizzling distortion. Perfect for blues and hard rock, this pickup is also acclaimed for its clarity and precision, allowing your playing articulation to really shine through.
