History & Legacy
In 2007, Gibson Custom introduced the “Inspired By Zakk Wylde Flying V Custom” – a short-lived limited run that reimagined the classic Flying V with Zakk’s signature Bullseye graphic, active EMG 81/85 pickups, and a Floyd Rose tremolo system.
With Les Paul Custom–level appointments (multi-ply binding, split-diamond headstock inlay, ebony fingerboard), this V is equal parts refined and aggressive – delivering tight, percussive rhythm tones, crystal-clear fast runs, and endless sustain.
As for production numbers: sources vary. Some report 150 units total, others mention a cap of up to 300. Most collectors agree that only ~150 were actually completed, which explains the rarity and consistent market appreciation.
