“I couldn’t be more thrilled to return”: Pantera’s Rex Brown rejoins the Spector roster — less than a year after releasing his first Epiphone signature model
At NAMM 2025, it was announced that Rex Brown is officially back with Spector as a signature artist, despite having launched his first Epiphone signature bass earlier this year.
Spector praised Brown as a defining force in heavy metal, highlighting his distinctive tone and performance approach. His connection to the brand is deep: Spector basses were central to Pantera’s final three records — Far Beyond Driven, The Great Southern Trendkill, and Reinventing the Steel.
In the years following Dimebag Darrell’s passing, Brown shifted to Warwick, which released his signature model in 2015. In early 2024, he introduced his first Epiphone Thunderbird signature.
However, when Pantera reunited in 2022, Rex returned to the stage with his longtime Spector basses, marking more than four decades of familiarity with the instruments.
“Spector basses have defined my sound since ’93. I’ve played them hard and loved them for years. Their tonal range is legendary. Coming back to Spector now feels right — the company is still pushing forward and doing incredible things,” Brown says.

Spector notes that his playing was crucial to shaping Pantera’s unmistakable sound.
A subtle tease from the brand suggests that a new Rex Brown signature model is in development for 2025, possibly inspired by the lineup from Pantera’s peak years.
How this affects his relationship with Epiphone and Gibson is not yet clear. Dual endorsements are increasingly common, so it’s possible Brown will continue working with both brands.
