Fans of vintage tone and modern rock revival have something truly special to celebrate — Gibson has officially launched the long-awaited signature model of Greta Van Fleet guitarist Jake Kiszka. This release is far more than just another guitar; it’s a faithful recreation of an instrument that helped shape a defining sound.

A legendary inspiration: the ‘61 Les Paul SG reborn

The Jake Kiszka SG Standard is a meticulous tribute to the iconic 1961 Les Paul SG, the very guitar that became central to Kiszka’s sonic identity. Referred to by the guitarist as his “Beloved,” this instrument holds deep personal and musical significance.

Handcrafted in Nashville and produced in limited quantities, the guitar preserves the signature features of the original: a double-cutaway body, elegant contours, and deep beveling that enhance both aesthetics and playability.

Premium feel and player-focused design

Comfort and craftsmanship are at the forefront of this model. It features a SlimTaper mahogany neck that allows for fast, fluid playing while maintaining a solid, comfortable grip.

The rosewood fingerboard hosts 22 medium jumbo frets, complemented by acrylic trapezoid inlays that glow subtly under stage lighting, adding a touch of visual brilliance.

Rock-solid tuning and performance reliability

Gibson has equipped this model with top-tier hardware to ensure tuning stability. A Graph Tech nut and Vintage Deluxe tuners with keystone buttons keep everything locked in place.

The ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge and stop tailpiece deliver precise string vibration transfer, while the Sideways Vibrola cover is fixed in place, effectively functioning as a stable hardtail system for dependable live performance.

A tone that roars and sings

At the heart of its sound are two T-Type humbuckers, delivering powerful dynamics, articulate clarity, and a sharp high-end bite. This tonal combination captures the expressive, roaring voice that defines Kiszka’s playing style.

Each pickup features independent volume and tone controls, enhanced by Orange Drop capacitors for a wide tonal range and consistent performance.

Classic looks with collectible appeal

Finished in a stunning Faded Vintage Cherry gloss nitrocellulose lacquer, the guitar radiates timeless style.

It comes complete with a black hardshell case featuring Jake Kiszka’s custom logo, a hand-signed backplate, and a premium leather strap adorned with a metallic coin pendant — making it a true collector’s piece.

The story behind the sound

For Jake Kiszka, this guitar is more than just an instrument:

“This ’61 model has defined me as a player, and I think I’ve defined it in return,” he explains.

He also recalls discovering the guitar at Chicago Music Exchange — a moment that felt almost surreal:

“It was like lightning coming down from the sky — unbelievable. Everything I had ever searched for in a guitar’s tone was right there.”

An instrument built to inspire

With this collaboration, Gibson and Jake Kiszka aim to pass that same transformative experience on to players around the world. This isn’t just a guitar — it’s a gateway to a sound that continues to shape modern rock music.
