Unleash the Beast: Von Frankenstein Monster Gear Introduces a New Humbucker Pickup
A powerful new weapon for heavy guitar tone
Von Frankenstein Monster Gear has officially unveiled its latest innovation — the patented VON FRANKENSTEIN MONSTER humbucker pickup. Developed in collaboration with pickup designer JD Mauro of Route 30 Pickups in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, this model is the result of five years of intensive research and development aimed at delivering uncompromising, high-performance tone.

Engineered for power, clarity, and impact
The VON FRANKENSTEIN MONSTER humbucker is built with 12 proprietary hex bolt pole pieces, three oversized ceramic magnets, and carefully hand-wound bobbins. Together, these elements create a tone focused on raw power, clarity, and aggressive attack.
Dozens of prototypes were rigorously tested and refined with the involvement of legendary Misfits guitarist Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein, ensuring the pickup meets the demands of his signature playing style. Every design decision was driven by the goal of achieving a truly monstrous tone — one that embodies intensity, aggression, and sonic identity.

Durability meets aggressive aesthetics
The pickup features a black nickel-plated nickel steel base plate and a black powder-coated open-face cover, providing both durability and a visually striking, menacing look while protecting the delicate internal coils.
Its large hex bolt design allows compatibility with both 49.2mm and 53mm string spacing, making it adaptable to a wide range of electric guitars.
The science behind the sound
Inductance plays a key role in shaping the pickup’s voice. The combination of unique winding patterns on each bobbin and the extensive use of steel results in a tight, controlled low end.
Average specifications:
— resistance: approximately 13.3 kOhms
— inductance: approximately 7.4H
This precise engineering ensures clarity and definition even at extreme volumes, preventing muddiness while maintaining crushing power.

From stage necessity to industry innovation
Von Frankenstein Monster Gear was originally born out of necessity, starting with a line of electric guitar strings designed to withstand the intense demands of live performances by Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein with the Misfits and his solo project.
These strings quickly gained recognition and endorsements from respected heavy music artists, including Gary Holt, Jeff Loomis, Logan Mader, Andreas Kisser, Brody Dalle, as well as Life of Agony and Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein himself.
This new humbucker represents the brand’s next step — expanding its mission to equip guitarists with tools capable of producing the heaviest and most aggressive tones imaginable.
A pickup built for extreme expression
Like the horror-punk icon behind its creation, the VON FRANKENSTEIN MONSTER pickup channels something primal, raw, and powerful.
Designed for players who push the limits of volume and aggression, it stands as a tribute to the sound that defines Doyle Wolfgang Von Frankenstein — precise, relentless, and instantly recognizable.
