A PRS first: Ed Sheeran unveils the brand’s first-ever hollowbody baritone signature guitar, limited to just 1,000 pieces
“A PRS hollowbody baritone has never existed before,” says Ed Sheeran — and that statement perfectly sums up the significance of this release. At NAMM 2026, PRS, the company founded by Paul Reed Smith, surprised the guitar world with the signature guitar SE Cosmic Splash: a meticulously specced hollowbody baritone produced in a strictly limited run of 1,000 instruments.
Yes, you read that right — the world got an Ed Sheeran baritone before GTA6.
Following previous signature collaborations with Martin and Lowden Guitars, the Shape of You songwriter has now partnered with PRS to create a visually striking six-string instrument featuring an extended 27.7-inch scale length.
Even more remarkable is the fact that this marks the very first time PRS has ever produced a hollowbody baritone guitar. Until now, the concept existed only as a one-off Drive guitar, custom-built for Ed Sheeran for the F1: The Movie soundtrack.

The distinctive appearance of the PRS SE Ed Sheeran “Cosmic Splash” Limited Edition is a faithful recreation of one of Ed Sheeran’s Cosmic Carpark paintings from 2025. That artwork series played a key role in raising funds for the Ed Sheeran Foundation, which supports music education initiatives throughout the United Kingdom.
The fretboard inlays — featuring play, pause, rewind, fast-forward, and stop symbols — reference Sheeran’s new Stereo album series, which began last year with Play.
Beyond its striking visuals, the guitar is packed with serious sonic capability. It features a collaborative PRS/LR Baggs Piezo system, a set of 85/15 “S” magnetic pickups, and flexible electronics that allow players to blend the piezo and magnetic signals or run each independently. Onboard controls include Magnetic Volume, Piezo Volume, and Tone, along with a three-way pickup selector.

Additional hardware highlights include a PRS adjustable stoptail bridge with six individual saddles and lightweight PRS-branded tuners. A shallow violin carve on the top meets a flatback body design, offering a compelling balance between acoustic resonance and electric performance.
In terms of tonewoods, the guitar pairs a mahogany body with a maple top, a set maple neck featuring a Wide Fat profile, and a 22-fret rosewood fingerboard with a 10-inch radius.
“A PRS hollowbody baritone has never been done before,” says loop-pedal master Ed Sheeran. “It’s incredibly special. I’ve been using it throughout the entire tour, and I absolutely love it.”
“It’s a limited edition, so it will go quickly,” he adds. “But there’s more coming, so stay tuned.”
The guitar ships in Standard B tuning (B–E–A–D–F#–B) and includes a gig bag along with a signed 8×8-inch Cosmic Splash art print.
