In a recent candid interview with Metal Hammer, the former vocalist of NIGHTWISH opened up without holding back about the tumultuous past:

— I honestly should have raised absolute hell. I held all the legal rights and signed contracts on my side, and had I chosen to exercise my full legal leverage, the band would have found themselves in profound and long-lasting trouble. But I chose not to do that. I simply decided to move on and walk away...
Tarja Turunen was famously dismissed at the very end of the NIGHTWISH 2005 tour. Right after the final performance, the band members handed her an open letter that was simultaneously posted on the group's official website. In that public statement, the remaining members of NIGHTWISH claimed: "Unfortunately, for you, business, money, and things that have nothing to do with emotions have become much more important."
Reflecting on those dramatic events, Tarja Turunen shared:
— They had a thoroughly well-calculated plan in place, and it was handled in a very dirty way. Following my departure from the band, my face dominated the front pages of the tabloids for nearly three weeks straight, and in a small country like Finland, there is simply no escaping that kind of scrutiny.
